How does the Rent-to-Own program work?

You make a first payment, then biweekly payments for 48 months. Every payment moves you closer to ownership. After your final payment, we transfer the title to you within 14 business days.

Do you run a credit check?

No. We don't pull credit and there's no qualification process — no income verification, no application scoring. The program is open to any licensed driver who can insure a Tesla.

Does this show up as debt on my credit?

No. Because this is a rental agreement with a path to ownership — not a loan — payments don't get reported as a liability to the credit bureaus.

Can I cancel or back out?

Yes. You can exit the program at any time by returning the vehicle. Any payments already made do not carry over, but there are no termination fees for ending the agreement.

Is insurance required?

Yes. You must carry full coverage insurance on the vehicle and list EK Rentals, Inc. as an interested party / additional insured for the duration of the agreement.

There is a 5-day grace period on every payment. Continued non-payment after that window requires the vehicle to be returned, and the agreement ends.

Who pays for maintenance, brakes and tires?

We do. Routine maintenance and repairs from normal wear and tear are covered during the agreement, including scheduled service, brake replacement and tires worn through normal use. If the car needs a repair, it is fixed or replaced within two business days and you are not charged for the downtime.

Who handles tickets, tolls, and Supercharging?

You are responsible for all tickets, tolls, and Supercharging fees. Tickets and tolls must be paid within 5 days. We keep a card on file to automatically charge Supercharging usage.

Who qualifies?

Everyone. Any licensed driver in the United States who can insure a Tesla is eligible — no credit check, no income requirement, no qualification process. We deliver nationwide at no cost.

Where do you deliver?

Anywhere in the continental U.S. — delivery is free. Once you're approved and your first payment clears, we coordinate delivery directly to your address.

What is the difference between a monthly rental and Rent-to-Own?

A month-to-month rental has no ownership path and can be returned with notice. Rent-to-own runs 48 months of biweekly payments (from $790 on a Model 3) and ends with the title in your name. Rent-to-own is cheaper per month.

Do you charge a security deposit?

Rent-to-own uses a first payment instead of a deposit. Month-to-month rentals place a refundable deposit that is returned after the return inspection.

Can someone else drive the car?

Additional drivers must be listed on the insurance policy and approved in writing. Unlisted drivers void coverage.

What if the car needs service?

If the car is not in working order we repair or replace it within two business days, and you are not charged for the time you are without a working car.

What happens if I get a ticket or tolls?

You are responsible for any ticket (parking or otherwise), penalties, towing charges, or impound costs that you incur during your rental period.

Can I have the Tesla delivered?

We gladly deliver our Teslas within 50mi of our locations for a flat-rate fee. You may calculate your delivery costs by going through the reservations process online.

Am I the only one who can drive the car?

We can list up to two drivers on any rental agreement. Both drivers must have valid driver licenses and insurance coverage.

How much do I get charged per extra mile?

The charges for the extra miles placed on our vehicles will vary. They are based on the style and make of the vehicle. All extra mile charges are listed in your rental agreement during checkout.

Do you take a security deposit?

Yes, the deposit amount will depend on the vehicle that you have rented. A hold will be placed on your credit card during the rental period, the hold will be released when the vehicle is returned without incidents.

Can I rent if I am under 25 years of age?

We do allow clients under the age of 25 to rent; however, there may be an underage fee assessed during the reservation checkout process.

I have an existing car insurance policy, do I need to purchase yours?

If you are a U.S. citizen that has car insurance that covers you for driving different vehicles, you will likely not need additional coverage. We will call your insurance provider and ensure coverage. If you are an international client, we will help you obtain insurance coverage for the rental period.

Can I smoke in the cars?

No smoking in the Teslas. If there is evidence/odor of smoking in the vehicle, you will be subject to a minimum $500 fine.

Do I need to return the vehicles washed?

Please return the car as clean as you received it. We don’t expect the car to look like it was just detailed; however, if the Tesla is excessively dirty upon return, you may be subject to a cleaning fee of up to $250.

How do I access the Tesla?

Once your reservation is confirmed, you will receive a text with information on accessing your rental vehicle.

How do I charge the Tesla?

You can locate Tesla charging stations through the vehicle’s touchscreen, via navigation, or on Google Maps. Supercharge stations allow the Tesla to charge to 80% in about 30 minutes.

How do I pay for supercharging?

Unless specified with a “Free Supercharging” tag on the vehicle, most of our Teslas have “Pay-As-You-Go” supercharging which means that you will need to pay for any supercharging use. You are allowed to use supercharging stations which will automatically bill our account; however, at the end of your rental you will receive a reimbursement invoice and the supercharging costs will be invoiced from your card on file.

How do I lock and unlock the Tesla?

To lock or unlock, tap the key card on the center of the pillar to the right of the driver’s window. There is no auto lock while using the key card, so please make sure to tap your key card on the window pillar when you leave the vehicle.

How much charge do I need to return the Tesla with?

Please return the cars with the same amount of charge as you picked them up with to avoid any fees or penalties.
